A lot of times customers come to us with an elaborate vision of their cake design.  Usually their description includes numerous colors, varying textures and multiple layers.  But, they fail to realize that sometimes the simplest cakes are indeed the most extravagant!

Nothing screams simple sophistication like black and white and shades of gray.  We hoped to prove this point with our latest project… a simple square cake with two fully bloomed gumpaste peonies.

We started this design with a 5” square of moist and fluffy chocolate cake filled with vanilla Swiss Meringue buttercream and dark chocolate ganache. We then covered the cake with buttercream flavored fondant (yummmm…..).  We chose gumpaste peonies because of their sophisticated beauty and elegance.  And actually, any flower would work… magnolias, ranunculus, or even a full bloomed rose!

Remember…less is sometimes more, especially if you are trying to make a statement.
