They say opposites attract, and in the case of Helen and Ben, it couldn’t be more true! This adorable couple, who met over a Halloween weekend escapade back in 2015, found their happily ever after a year of friendship blossomed into love. (Talk about a spooky cute meet!)
Fast forward to their wedding on May 18th, 2024, at the High Point @1333 in Dupont Circle, Washington D.C. The venue itself played a fun role in their theme – a vintage linen napkin with pops of red, yellow, and blue inspired their entire color scheme.
Now, let’s talk cake! Knowing their personalities (Helen, the quirky and organized one, and Ben, the dorky and analytical sweetheart), we knew their cake had to be a reflection of their unique love story.
A Towering Masterpiece in White
We envisioned a tall all-white wedding cake that would be both elegant and playful. Standing at a majestic two and a half feet, the cake itself was a blank canvas for us to weave their whimsical story.
Texture & Florals Take Center Stage
To add visual interest, we incorporated stunning bas-relief textures on the cake tiers. These textured details added a touch of sophistication that perfectly complemented the vibrant pops of color in their wedding theme.
But the real stars of the show were the wafer paper florals. Delicate and lifelike, they adorned the cake in a cascade of red, yellow, and blue, echoing the wedding’s color palette.
A Hidden Wink
Adding a touch of playful secrecy, we snuck in a small gumpaste plaque that read “Mr. Palatianos” amongst the sugar flowers. This hidden message, an inside joke only the couple understood, added a personal touch that made the cake even more special.
This all-white wedding cake for Helen & Ben was a delicious and visually stunning centerpiece that perfectly captured their quirky personalities and their love for each other. It was a true celebration of their unique bond, proving that sometimes, the sweetest things come wrapped in a touch of whimsy!
